Before there were princes, kings, and queens of Kundiman in the Philippines, Mr. Emiliano C. Cruz, also known as Mang Emil was already dubbed as the King of Kundiman and the father of Radio skådespel Songs in the Philippine music industry during the s and s. He was a recognized composer, writer, singer, director, producer (for TV and radio), and philanthropist.

Nicanor Santa Ana Abelardo was a composer, pianist, and teacher.
