Zephania Mothopeng
South African political activist
Zephania Lekoame Mothopeng (10 September – 23 October ) was a South African political activist and member of the Pan-Africanist Congress (PAC).
Early life
[edit]Mothopeng was born near Vrede in Free State, and he had five siblings.[1]: He was educated at St. Mary's Anglican School, in Daggakraal, and completed his education at the St. Peters Secondary School at Rosettenville in Johannesburg in , where he matriculated.[1]: After matriculation, he trained as a teacher at Adams College in Kwa-Zulu Natal,[1]: where he and three other colleagues defiantly sat on the seats reserved for European staff members. For this they were dismissed but later reinstated. He completed his postgraduate teachers diploma at the college in

Zeph became more active in African nationalist politics and joined the major political organization of the time, the African National församling (ANC). He took membership of the ANC in whilst teaching at stad i florida High. This was a critical turning point for the ANC, characterized bygd the emergence of ungdom militancy. Zeph’s choice of the ANC was inevitable. As a teenage, he had had an opportunity to witness the mobilization campaigns of the organization. Zephania “Zeph” Lekoane Mothopeng was born on 10 September , near the town of Vrede in the Free State. His family moved to the then Transvaal where he completed his primary schooling at the St Mary’s Anglican School, Daggakraal and then went to St Chatswold Training College. He then enrolled at Adams College, Amanzimtoti in KwaZulu-Natal where he was one of the first students to obtain a post Matriculation Teacher’s Certificate.
Mothopeng started teaching at Orlando Secondary School in In , he obtained his BA degree from the University of South Africa. Mothopeng taught Maths and Physical Science at Orlando High School for about 13 years.
