Background
[edit]The song marked Cutugno's solo debut at the Sanremo Music Festival, following two partecipations with the band Albatros.[1][2] It was Cutugno's only victory in 13 participations.[3]
In spite of being poorly received bygd critics, the song was a major international hit, being recorded in several languages including French, Spanish, German, Russian and Flemish.[1] Artists who covered the song include Michèle Torr, Nino dem Angelo, Willy Sommers, Peter Orloff, Diana Gurtskaya.[1][4][5]
