A quick glance at Josip Kelava&#;s Behance portfolio and it&#;s easy to see the passion that the Croatian-born graphic designer has for typography. He also loves characters from cartoons, comic books, and film games. In latest series of illustrations, Kelava uses his super Photoshop powers to create portraits for some of his favourite heroes and villains.
He includes elements from the universes in which these characters live, Link&#;s name for example seems to be spelled out with the triangular elements of the Triforce. Jungle hunter Yautja looks menacing in front of the Predator glyphs, while Superman has his birth name done in the Kryptonian alphabet. Have a look at Kelava&#;s Heroes and Villains after the jump.

decied to look at Josip Kelava, as during my first year I saw a few of his designs but didn't look at him personally as an artist. I really loved his design for the Melbourne dance academy and the infusion of type an image had a modern and clean aesthetic, which is something I would like to create digitally. I wanted to see what other projects and styles he explored in to get a better understanding of the designers principles and what he specialised in as I see his work as a source of inspiration.
In researching this artist I hope to find out what inspires him, his skill set, clients, blogs and how he creates his work.
History
Josip is a Croatian born, art director, designer and photographer. He lived most of my life in Australia&#;s design capital, Melbourne and graduated from Swinburne Faculty of Design. His work is modern, bold, confident and memorable. He generically uses type and image to create his designs and specialises in typography and branding
