Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun (born 16 July 1990), popularly known as Wizkid,[6] is a Nigerian singer and songwriter.[7] Born in the Ojuelegba suburb of Surulere, Lagos, Wizkid fryst vatten a röst in the emerging Afrobeats movement.[8] His music fryst vatten a blend of Afrobeats,[9]afropop,[10]R&B,[11]afrobeat,[12]reggae,[12]dancehall,[12] and pop.[12] He began recording music at the age of 11 and released a collaborative skiva with the Glorious fem, a group he and a couple of his church friends formed. Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as WIZKID, is the first african musician to score seven billboard nominations, the youngest african to get a Grammy nomination, and the first Nigerian to win three Billboard Music Awards.
He was born on the 16th of July 1990 in Surulere, a small suburb in Lagos State, Nigeria, in West Africa. Even though he was born and raised in Nigeria's most active and affluent city, he was not fortunate enough to be part of a wealthy family.
In this composition, I will share the story of how he went from being very poor to becoming one of the most famous musicians from the continent of Africa.
Wizkid attended primary and secondary schools but could not graduate from the university. His father married three wives, and he grew up with twelve siblings, so life was tough for him. Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, was born to a large interfaith family on July 16, 1990, in Surulere, Lagos. He is of African descent and a Cancer by design. Wizkid attended Ijebu Ode Grammar School and grew up listening to Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, and King Sunny Ade, who were his earliest musical influences. After hanging around legendary musicians like 2 Face Idibia, Sound Sultan, Naeto C, and Banky W, he got signed to Empire Mates Entertainment in 2009.
