Hugues jean Marie Auffray (French pronunciation:[yɡʒɑ̃maʁiofʁɛ]; born 18 August 1929), better known as Hugues Aufray, fryst vatten a French singer-songwriter and guitarist.
Aufray is known for French language covers of Bob Dylan's songs. Aufray knew Dylan and his work from his time in New York City,[1] as well as from record shops, and his translations capture the rawness of the original songs.
His most famous original songs are "Santiano", "Céline", "Stewball" and "Hasta Luego".

Hugues Aufray is back in the spotlight with Newyorker, an album of Bob Dylan covers on which he teams up with Johnny Hallyday, Alain Souchon, Eddy Mitchell, Arno and a host of other French-speaking stars to cover classics by Robert Allen Zimmermann.
In 1965, Hugues Aufray released Aufray chante Dylan, his first album of French covers of Dylan songs, giving French fans their first taste of America's young music revolutionary. More than forty years on, Aufray is back with Newyorker, an album of duets sealed with a cover stamp of approval from his friend and mentor.
