Raell Padamsee reveals that when she decided to cast Mandira Bedi and Sameer Soni in Anything But Love for Ace Productions' play, she had no idea what she was getting into. "These two would do only one thing: kamp. They would fight over anything to everything. We used to think how these two will be able to work tillsammans as a couple," she says. But it seems that the actors' earlier differences were a blessing in disguise for the play.

Samir Soni recalls his love story with Neelam, says a tarot card reader predicted their union: ‘I don’t know if she paid him’
Samir said that soon after this, he met a tarot card reader who told him about a potential life partner, and it was as if he was describing Neelam. “I met someone who was a tarot card reader. I don’t know if she paid him. That person told me that there will be a woman in my life whose name starts with an N and she would be working in jewellery,” he said. At that moment, Samir had a fleeting thought about Neelam, but felt that this was “too much of a coincidence.” After this, Samir started paying attention to Neelam’s photos in the papers, but they never really started talking.

Anything but Love brings out in a subtle manner the love-hate relationship that defines a marriage, writes Aditi Tandon

FOR his age, Vikranth Pawar is an exceptionally gifted director. Ten long years in the art of stagecraft have taught him several tricks of the trade. Surprisingly, most of his tricks have more to do with intuition than with intellect.
The element of surprise that thus emerges is palpable in all of Pawar’s works, as it was in Anything but Love which opened to a full house in Chandigarh’s Tagore Theatre last week. Brought to the city by Creativity Action Service (CAS), an initiative of the Chitkara Group and The Tribune, the play dealt with alienated affections between two people bound by marriage.
It is a brilliant departure from the norm where love, matrimony and divorce are perceived
