While completing his MBA from the University of Western Ontario in 1982, Jack joined Matthews Group Ltd, the family construction company. In 1985 Jack was appointed President and presided over a period of unprecedented growth as company revenues grew from $69 million to over $500 million. In 1988, Jack founded Matthews Southwest to provide an American presence in the development business.
From 1991 to 1993 Jack served as Chief Executive Officer of Paxport International, the firm awarded the $2 billion Federal contract to privatize and redevelop Pearson International Airport in Toronto.
In 1994, Jack purchased Matthews Southwest and relocated to Dallas, Texas and has continued to develop innovative, quality commercial, industrial and residential projects in Canada, the United States and Mexico. He has also established an international presence with Matthews Southwest EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa).

American philanthropist (1924–2017)
Ruth Collins Sharp Altshuler (1924 – December 8, 2017) was an American philanthropist living in Dallas, Texas. The Dallas Morning News wrote that she helped raise tens of millions of dollars for charity.[1] Altshuler was the first woman to serve or chair several boards, including the Salvation Army Dallas Advisory Board, the board of Goodwill Industries, and the chair of the Board of Trustees of Southern Methodist University.[2] She was also inducted into the Texas Woman's Hall of Fame.
Early life

Kenneth Z. Altshuler (April 11, 1929 – January 6, 2021) was an American psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. He was a Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and the Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.[1]
Early life and education

Altshuler was born on April 11, 1929, in Paterson, New Jersey, to Jacob and Altie Altshuler.[2] He graduated from Cornell University in 1948 and received his M.D. grad from the University at Buffalo, School of medicin in 1952, at age 23.[1] He did an internship at Kings County Hospital Center. From 1953–1955, he served in the Navy leaving the service with the rank of Lt.
