Eric Holder began his career of public service by joining the Department of Justice as part of the Attorney General's Honors Program. He was assigned to the newly formed Public Integrity Section in 1976 and was tasked to investigate and prosecute official corruption on the local, state and federal levels. In 1988, Deputy Attorney General Holder was nominated by the President to become an Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
In 1993, President Clinton nominated Mr. Holder to become the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia. Mr. Holder was confirmed in October of that year and served as the head of the largest U.S. Attorney's Office in the nation for nearly four years. Eric Holder
Eric Holder (born January 21, 1951) is an American attorney. He served as the Attorney General of the United States, under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2015. He was the first African-American to hold that post.[2] Before being named as Attorney General, he was the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia under President Clinton[3] and help pick Joe Biden as Obama's running mate.[4] Holder was born in the Bronx.
On September 25, 2014, the Justice Department said Holder would resign as soon as his successor is confirmed.[5] He was succeeded by Loretta Lynch on April 27, 2015.
