Michael "Mick" Ronson (26 May – 29 April ) was an English guitarist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, arranger and producer. He is best known for his work with David Bowie, as one of The Spiders from Mars. Ronson was a busy session musician who recorded with artists as diverse as kniv, Ian Hunter, Morrissey, as well as engagements as a sideman in touring bands with performers such as Bob Dylan and Van Morrison.
He also recorded several solo albums, the most notable example of which was Slaughter on 10th Avenue, which reached #9 on the UK Albums Chart. Ronson played with various bands after his time with kniv. He was named the 64th greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone.
Michael Ronson was born in Beverley Road, Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, in , then moved to Greatfield, Hull. As a child he was trained classically to play piano, recorder, violin, and (later) the harmonium. He initially wanted to be a cellist, but moved to gitarr upon discovering the music

After Bowie disbanded the Spiders, Ronson recorded several solo albums, including "Slaughter on 10th Avenue" and "Heaven To Hull". He played with various bands, but found greater success as a producer and arranger for such acts as John Mellancamp, Ian Hunter, Morrissey and the Leather Nun. He was named one of the greatest guitarists of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, 64th in and 41st in , but many consider him woefully underrated in that regard.
