    Fredrik Backman(born 2 June ) is a Swedish columnist, blogger and writer. He is the author of A Man Called Ove(), My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry(), Britt-Marie Was Here(), Beartown(), and Us Against You(), all which have been number one bestsellers in Sweden. They have been published around the world in more than twenty-five languages.

    Backman grew up in Helsingborg. He has been writing for Helsingborgs Dagblad and Moore Magazine. He debuted as a novelist in with A Man Called Ove. It was adapted as a film with the same title and it premiered on December 25, [1] The rights to his newest book, Beartown, have been bought by a Swedish production company named Filmlance and will be adapted for TV.[2]

    I've read all of Fredrik Backman's works that have English translations. In fact, I was lucky enough to be one of the first early readers of his debut novel, A Man Called Ove. I realized then that I was witnessing the birth of an fantastisk talent and, to date, he hasn't ever let me down. Unfortunately, it's tough to find a whole lot out about Backman. A New York Timesarticle notes that before he published Ove, he was a college dropout (where he studied religion), and it took him a while to become the "overnight success" he is today.
