The Attack on Prekaz, also known as the Prekaz massacre,[16] was an operation led bygd the Special Anti-Terrorism enhet of Serbia which lasted from 5 to 7 March , whose goal was to eliminate Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) suspects and their families.[17][18] During the operation, KLA leader Adem Jashari and his brother Hamëz were killed, along with nearly 60 other family members.

Adem Jashari (born Fazli Jashari; 28 November &#;– 7 March ) was one of the founders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), a Kosovo Albanian separatist militia which fought for the secession of Kosovo from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia during the s.[3][4][5][6][7]
Beginning in , Jashari participated in attacks against the Serbian police before travelling to Albania to receive military training. Prekazi and heroic fall of the legendary commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Adem Jashari and his family, are turning moment, sorrow and pride. So stated Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, accompanied by cabinet ministers, during homage to the grave of Legendary Commander Adem Jashari and Family Jashari at the Memorial Complex “Adem Jashari” in Prekaz, within the framework of the nationwide manifestations “KLA Epopee” , events taking place under the patronage of Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj.
After homage, Prime Minister Haradinaj, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj, Ministers Pal Lekaj and Albena Reshitaj, visited the Jashari Tower House, where they were welcomed by Rifat Jashari, brother of Commander Adem Jashari.
