Miguel Ángel Cancel Vázquez (born June 28, 1968) is a Puerto Rican singer, actor and retired police officer who began his career with the Puerto Rico-basedboy bandMenudo.

Miguel was born in Chicago, Illinois as the only child of Gloria and Felix Cancel. Miguel joined Menudo as a singer in 1981, replacing Óscar Meléndez. He was the first bilingual element on the band, and he was part of the most iconic age of the band called "the golden age" next to Xavier Serbiá, René Farrait, Ricky Meléndez, Johnny Lozada, Charlie Massó and Ray Reyes, collaborating in making Menudo an international sensation, with LP albums like Fuego, Quiero Ser, Por Amor and Una Aventura Llamada Menudo.

Puerto Rican boy band
Menudo is a Puerto Rican boy band formed by producer Edgardo Díaz.[2] Referred to as the "most iconic Latino pop music band",[3] they have been ranked as one of the biggest boy bands of all time by several publications, including Billboard, Us Weekly, Seventeen, and Teen Vogue, being the only Latin band on their lists.[4][5][6][7]
The band had several radio hits during its career. They acted in a television film (1979's Leyenda de Amor[8]) and two feature films, An Adventure Called Menudo (Una aventura llamada Menudo) and Menudo: The Movie (Menudo: La Película), in three mini series entitled "I Want to Be", "It's for Love" and "Forever Friends" ("Quiero Ser", "Es Por Amor" and "Por Siempre Amigos") and another television mini-series named Panchito and Arturo (Panchito y Arturo).[9]

A native of Chicago, Cancel joined Menudo in 1981, replacing Óscar Meléndez. His persona in the group was as the good guy. He became an instant hit among Menudo fans because of his charisma and vocal ability.
Cancel was a member during the worldwide Menudo craze of the early 1980s. In the 1981 album Quiero Ser, Miguel sang a duet with Xavier Serbia in Menudo's "Rock enstaka la TV". He also sang "Es Por Amor" and the heart-touching "Cuando Pasará", a song which talked both about parents who abandon their children and parents who die too ung to see them grow.
Miguel left Menudo in 1983 before his mandatory retirement age of 16 because of his sudden röst change. He was replaced by Roy Rosselló.
Cancel joined El Reencuentro in 1998. The group, made up of former Menudo members, went on a worldwide tour and recorded an album singing old Menudo songs.
